    TOPIC
    The Hospitality Industry Post-Pandemic

While the hospitality industry has suffered through other economic recessions and periods of low occupancy including the 2008 economic crisis and 9/11, the Covid-19 pandemic is unlike anything the industry has seen in recent decades. How has the hospitality industry adapted to keep operating during the pandemic, what challenges lay ahead and how long will it take for things to recover?

Kevin Detz is Aimbridge Hospitality's Executive Vice President / Operational Chief Financial Officer. In his role, Kevin is responsible for the day-to-day oversight of Aimbridge's corporate accounting and property accounting functions, as well as participation in the Company’s financial planning and strategy. Detz is also responsible for the execution of the Company's centralized hotel support functions, including accounting, treasury, payroll, tax, accounts payable, and operational compliance.

Detz joined the Aimbridge Hospitality team in 2014 as Senior Vice President/Corporate Controller with over 12 years of finance experience, before matriculating to Chief Accounting Officer and ultimately Operational CFO. Prior to joining Aimbridge, he served as Vice President at Goldman Sachs in the hospitality group, where he oversaw the acquisition and transition of a large public hotel REIT into the Goldman Sachs hospitality platform. Additionally, Detz served as an Audit Manager for Ernst and Young, LLP, where he was involved in several public debt and equity offerings, including the lead role on initial public offerings for clients in the real estate, retail and equipment rental industries. During his time with Ernst & Young, Detz was involved in several public debt and equity offerings, including the lead role on an initial public offering. Detz started his career with Arthur Andersen, LLP before transitioning to Ernst & Young in 2002.

Mr. Detz graduated Magna cum Laude from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania with a B.S. in Business Administration. Detz is a licensed Certified Public Accountant and a member of the AICPA.

Simon Mendy is Aimbridge Hospitality's Executive Vice President of Operations. Simon also serves as the executive expert for the extended stay vertical at Aimbridge Hospitality management.

Mendy joined Aimbridge Hospitality in 2018 with 20 years of hospitality management experience. Previously, he served as Executive Vice President of Operations for Extended Stay America, where he oversaw operations of 625 hotels across 45 states and over 7,500 associates. He also served as Senior Vice President of Operations, Vice President of Training, Standards and Guest Relations, Regional Director of Operations and Director of Revenue Management during his time with Extended Stay America.
